Album of the year for 2012 & the winner is......

Wow last year's winner Goyte went onto have a HUGE 2012, so how will the 2012 winner go in 2013? It's been a long road to get here, it's been 6 nominations, a few close call almost, maybe nominations (yes that's you Lana Del Ray and your Paradise Edition) but now it's the moment the world and my blog has been waiting for this BIG album of the year.

From Missy Higgins to Flume and down to SA for some Hilltop Hoods Australia was well represented and on Australia Day I will reveal the top Aussie album of 2012. So for now that leaves the three international albums up for the big 2012 award. Calvin Harris had the highest number of successful singles from one album, The xx were the most chilled but the year does belong to one Frank Ocean.

The release of his Channel Orange has been groundbreaking for hip hop, not only for the super fine music but the fact Frank Ocean had a crush, on a boy.
Go Frank, from the 10 minute opus of "Pyramids" to the smooth jams of "Forrest Gump" & "Crack Rock", this album was hardly ever far from my IPOD. The album was sublime and tracks like "Lost" are on every ones lips and top 10 countdowns for the year ending.

Frank Ocean has a very bright future and I can't wait to hear what his second release will bring us. Channel Orange is this years very special album of the year and for the first time on Australia Day, I will crown an Australian Album of the year from the below:

The Hilltop Hoods - Drinking from the Sun
Missy Higgins - The Ol Razzle Dazzle
Flume - Self Titled

So stay tuned.

In the meantime here is some silky smooth Frank Ocean for y'all.

Happy Holidays!

And just in time for this announcement Frank has dropped a new gem, what do you reckon???
